We’ve attempted to create our website so that it is simple to use for
advertisers and travelers alike, however if something is unclear we’d like to
know about it so that we can make it clear! Please email us at
feedback@bctravelguide.ca to report any part of the site that could be
improved.
Many common questions are answered below, but if you are just not comfortable
with online forms (or the internet in general) then you are not alone! We are
more than willing to enter your banner and link for you if you wish. Please

Company Name
Please enter the proper trading name of your business as you would like it to
appear on your banner.
Email
Please enter your email address here. This is the address that you wish to be
displayed on your listing, that you wish your customers to use to contact you.
If you are not comfortable leaving your email address here, you may leave this
blank. “Please call us” will be displayed by default on your banner.
Website URL
Please enter this very carefully, starting with http:// This will
become the actual link to your website. You may wish to consider linking to an
internal page in your site that most effectively receives the incoming traffic
that you recieve from us. There is no limit to the length of your URL.
Telephone
This is the telephone number that you would like your potential customers to
call. Most advertisers use their toll-free number that goes to their sales
department. If you don’t wish to have your customers phone you before reaching
your website, then just leave this field blank.
Region & City
We’ve attempted to break the province into 7 regions to allow travellers to
narrow their search. These regions are generally accepted by our provincial
tourism bureau. If your city or town is near the border of one of these
regions, and you cannot find it listed under that region, then there’s a
possibility that it listed in the neighboring region. If you still cannot find
your city listed then we ask that you do 2 things.

Please choose the town or city nearest you for the creation of your banner.

Tell us so that we may add your town or city right away. (We’ll contact you
once we do)
We’ve chosen to NOT include all municipalities in the province in the interest
of search simplicity and effectiveness. If your business is in a ‘one-horse
town’ or so to speak, and we listed your business by itself under that town’s
name, then you might not be found by your potential customers unless they are
searching specifically for your business! In that case, then they likely would
have already found you by using a conventional search engine.
Categories
We’ve attempted to break down as many Accommodation, Transportation and
Activity categories as we can, without losing our effectiveness. If your
business does not fit perfectly into one of these categories, then there’s a
good chance that it will fit into one that is very close. This can be an
advantage for you because you may capture clientele that hadn’t considered your
offering specifically.

We review all our listings to ensure that they are listed on pages that make
sense to the users of our website. This preserves our functionality and
effectiveness. If you see a listing displayed on a page that does not make
sense, please let us know!
Guidelines for Additional Categories or Cities
Your advertising package includes up to 3 listings in the city and
category of your choosing. Your primary listing is in the city in which you are
physically located. You may choose 2 more City / Category combinations subject
to the following guidelines:

Your business is located in between 2 communities or,
-
Your business is located in an extremely small community. In that case it is
ok to list in additional adjacent communities in the area that you would be
likely to receive clientele from.

You host an additional ACTIVITY within your business. If you are listing under
an Activity, that Activity must me mentioned in your 50 word description or in
your name.
(These guidelines are drafted to help us preserve and enhance the
usefulness of our site while driving you the maximum amount of targeted
traffic. We understand that they will not cover all circumstances.
Reasonableness and common sense will always prevail. Please don’t hesitate to
ask if your property doesn’t fit within these guidelines, and you wish to list
in an additional category)
Description
There is space for up to 300 characters (approximately 50 words). You are
encouraged to use a description of your property that differentiates you from
other properties. For maximum effectiveness, please use as many characters as
you can, and use keywords often! “Keywords” are words that your clients would
type into Google in order to find you. For example, your city name should be
mentioned more than once.
Picture
Please choose a single picture that best represents your business and
makes you stand apart from your competitors. The picture will be resized to 120
pixels x 80 pixels, then checked by us to ensure that it looks good and works
properly, before going online. Landscape photos work the best. Smaller file
sizes are appreciated.
If you are like many people, and aren’t comfortable editing digital photos, then
we’ve got you covered! Simply leave this box blank, and we will select a photo
from your website instead.
